Pacific Gestalt Institute
PGI
PGI’s training focuses on contemporary relational perspectives in gestalt therapy, with an emphasis on working with the nuances of emotional process, therapist-patient interaction, enduring relational themes, and the developmental process of psychotherapy. Relational gestalt therapy theory is taught systematically and is interwoven into the experiential part of the program.
Weekend Program
Each year, the program offers six weekend intensives of experiential and didactic training, Beginning and advanced groups are available. Trainees are assigned to training groups with people of varying backgrounds and experience, with each group limited in size to approximately twelve participants. Lecture, discussion and actual “hands-on” clinical practice with live supervision are included in each weekend to help integrate theory with practice. This is a multiyear program, but trainees enroll for one year at a time. Those who continue through to the advanced level may be eligible for the certification process as a gestalt therapist.
Residential Program
Join the PGI faculty to explore clinical applications of the evolving relational perspective we have been developing over the years. PGI has explored various theoretical foundations from gestalt therapy theory, from contemporary psychoanalysis, and from gestalt therapy’s philosophical forebears. Share a week of exploration and learning and living together. The Residential Program has opportunities for learning for all levels of experience with gestalt therapy, from folks who serve on gestalt therapy faculties, to folks who have minimal clinical experience.
